As the echoes of Har Har Mahadev fill the air, Dehradun’s iconic Tapkeshwar Mela has officially begun, kicking off the ten-day spiritual and festive celebrations.

Held yearly during Maha Shivratri at the ancient Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, this colourful fair holds a special spot in the hearts of Dehradun locals. Famous for the hues and happiness that the affair spreads, Shiva devotees flock to the place to join in the glory.

A confluence of faith, devotion and bliss

A constant centre of faith for centuries, the Tapkeshwar temple lightens up during the day, with special rituals and elaborate pujas going on. And the vibrant mela nearby only adds to the charm to this ongoing festival.

A blessing for the shoppers, the fair has everything from giant wheels and swings for the kids to rows of delicious street food, with devotional music in the backdrop, hosts of activities and games to take part in and lots of scope for shopping. For, from clay utensils and toys to household items and more, the shops are lined up with varied traditional and modern goods.
