The Mitho Thakali and Himalayan Kitchen, owned by Vikrant Thapli, brings a slice of Nepal to Dehradun, inspired by his family's rich culinary history. Offering more than just momos and chowmein, the restaurant showcases authentic Nepali flavours through dishes like the "Thakali Khana" – a traditional platter with rice, dal, pickles, buckwheat treats, curries, and ghee!
When it comes to a wholesome menu, Mitho Thakali offers up to 20 different dishes, including Jhol Momos, Thukpa, Wai Wai Sadeko, Gundruk Sadeko, Chicken Sekuwa with Flat Rice, and Tibetan Herbal Tea.
But the vibe goes beyond food. The entire dining experience is enhanced by the restaurant's intricate interiors dressed in wood, gentle lighting, and a peaceful aura.
With two floors and a sitting capacity of around 100, the restaurant opens into a spacious courtyard. The staff here, who is primarily from Siliguri and Darjeeling in West Bengal, wear dhaka hats while serving customers mouthwatering Nepali dishes in bronze utensils. The cuisine, prepared by two Nepali cooks, has been authentically crafted to bring the true essence of Nepal to your plate.
