Residents of Dehradun will soon have a new place to explore food and dining as the city’s first organized food court is in the final stage of construction. The project is being developed by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation and is expected to open for the public soon.
The upcoming food court is located near the Maharana Pratap Sports College on Raipur–Thano Road. It is one of the key development projects aimed at creating a well-organized food destination for both residents and tourists visiting the city.
The food court complex will include 31 organized food outlets, offering visitors the chance to enjoy a wide range of cuisines in one place.
The facility is being designed to provide a comfortable and clean dining experience with several modern amenities, including:
Open dining areas
Clean sanitation and restroom facilities
Seating arrangements for visitors
Walking galleries and pathways
Decorative lighting and light shows
Considering the heavy traffic on the Thano–Airport route, the project also includes dedicated parking space to make access easier for visitors.
According to officials, the project is being developed on the lines of organized food streets seen in cities like Indore, which are known for their structured food markets and vibrant street-food culture.
Beautification work, signboards, and finishing touches are currently underway at the site.
The goal is to create a safe, well-managed food space away from the city’s traffic congestion, where people can enjoy both local Uttarakhand street food and dishes from other regions.
Apart from providing a new hangout spot for residents, the food court is also expected to support local businesses and young entrepreneurs.
Officials believe the project will:
Create new employment opportunities
Encourage local food vendors and small businesses
Strengthen tourism activities in Dehradun
Once completed, the food court is expected to become one of the city’s modern food destinations for both locals and travelers.
