All the rail passengers travelling between Delhi and Dehradun can now take a sigh of relief as they no longer have to face a long waiting list. Travelling to areas like Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh is now going to be more convenient than ever as the Chief Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) has allowed high-speed train operations on the Deoband-Roorkee rail line.
This decision has been informed to the public by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav through social media.
The 29.55 km long section of the Deoband-Roorkee new rail line project has been approved by the CRS and a trail run has also been carried out successfully at a speed of 122 kmph. Once the project gets completed, rail distance between Delhi and Dehradun will be reduced by about 40 kilometers, thus saving time and benefiting more trains.
Expressing his happiness, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. He said that the project would give a big boost to new tourism, trade and employment opportunities.
