Dehradun proudly celebrates one of its own as cricketer Sneh Rana has been honoured by the state government following India’s historic win in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Notably, on 2 November 2025, the Indian women’s cricket team scripted history by clinching its first-ever World Cup title. The Uttarakhand-born all-rounder Sneh Rana was felicitated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence. The CM praised her stellar performance in India’s World Cup win and announced a ₹50 lakh reward to honour her contribution.

The win came after a roller-coaster campaign: three straight losses in the round-robin, followed by a stirring semi-final victory over undefeated Australia, and finally downing South Africa in the final.

In the final match and throughout the tournament, Sneh’s dedication and skill helped India clinch the title, bringing pride not only to the nation but especially to her home state of Uttarakhand.

Many of the players, including Uttarakhand’s own Sneh Rana, hail from small towns and village lanes — where they honed their skills with second-hand bats, seam-less balls and against gender stereotypes. Their grit and determination both on and off the field shine through.

The CM praised Sneh for bringing the region into the limelight on the international cricket stage and said the government remains committed to supporting athletes who emerge from Dehradun and beyond. With her journey from local talent to World Cup winner, Sneh Rana now stands as a beacon for future sportspersons in the hills.
