Continuous heavy rains, coupled with a sudden cloudburst over Sahastradhara and adjoining areas, have left Dehradun district reeling under floods and landslides. The overflowing Tamsa River and rivulets such as Karligaad triggered flash floods that submerged houses, damaged roads, and washed away bridges, cutting off several parts of the district.

Several low-lying areas, including Maldevta, IT Park, Tapkeshwar and Sahastradhara, were heavily waterlogged. The Dehradun–Haridwar highway witnessed severe damage after a bridge collapse near Fun Valley, disrupting inter-district travel.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Dehradun and nearby districts, warning of more intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and risk of landslides in hilly terrain.

Emergency Helpline Numbers: Dehradun District

Disaster/Medical Helpline: 108

District Emergency Operation Centre: 1077

State Disaster Management Authority: 1070 , 0135-2710334.

As rains continue, authorities fear further flooding in downstream areas. Relief camps are being strengthened and drone surveillance has been deployed in worst-hit regions. The administration has urged people to remain alert and rely on verified helpline numbers for assistance.
