Now, you won’t be needing to keep aside a day to travel from Delhi to Dehradun or vice versa. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is all set to be inaugurated soon and travelers can complete the 5 hours journey in just half the time.
The work on Delhi-Dehradun expressway is going on in full swing and as per sources, the expressway can be made open for public by the month of June. The construction of this 210 km long expressway will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 2.5 hours. The total cost of construction of this expressway is INR 12000 crores and it includes 113 underpasses and 5 railway overbridges. It also has Asia's longest 12-km elevated wildlife corridor over Rajaji National Park.

The expressway is being built in four phases. The first phase is 31.6 km long. It will start from Akshardham Temple and go till Eastern Peripheral Way. The work has been completed. The second phase is 118 km long from Eastern Peripheral to Saharanpur Bypass. The 41.8 km long third phase will be built from Ganeshpur to Asharodi Chowk Dehradun. The fourth phase will be 19.78 km long.
As per Union Minister of State for Transport, Harsh Malhotra, the expected starting date of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is in the month of June 2025. However, he has also stated that provisions are being made to improve traffic conditions at Khajuri Chowk after which the expressway can be started comfortably.
