Dehradun is about to get a new reason to step outdoors. The 132-acre Rashtrapati Udyan near the historic Rashtrapati Ashiyana complex on Rajpur Road is taking shape as a destination that goes far beyond a conventional city park.

What makes it exciting for Dehradun residents is the sheer mix of experiences planned here. The garden will feature a 2.7-km jogging, cycling and walking track, an 840-metre boardwalk, viewing and waterfall decks, a large litchi garden, theme park, cafeteria and food court.

The upcoming garden is also being designed around wellness and recreation. A dedicated yoga pavilion, modern sports zone and an 800-seat open-air theatre will create spaces for fitness, sports and cultural events.

Construction is already progressing, with several components at different stages of completion. According to officials, the garden is expected to be ready in 2027.

For Dehradun, the bigger story is its potential to become a new all-in-one leisure destination—where residents can cycle in the morning, relax amid greenery, catch a cultural show or simply spend an evening outdoors.
