Dehradun's Commonwealth Games 2026 bronze medalist Unnati Sharma received a hero's welcome on her return to the city on Tuesday after her outstanding performance in Glasgow. Family members, friends, supporters, and sports enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the Uttarakhand judoka's achievement. She was also honoured with a grand jeep parade through the city.
Competing in the women's 63 kg judo category, Unnati secured the bronze medal with a dominant Ippon victory over South Africa's Skye Knoester. The contest lasted just 1 minute and 7 seconds, highlighting her technical brilliance and composure on the international stage.
Speaking after her return, Unnati dedicated the medal to her parents and encouraged young athletes to stay disciplined and work hard to achieve their dreams. Her medal also contributed to India's successful judo campaign at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where the contingent won four medals, including two historic golds.
