Imagine cruising from Delhi to Dehradun in under three hours—no traffic snarls, no endless queues through city intersections, just a smooth ride through hills and plains.
Travellers will be able to use portions of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway as early as next month, as the first phase of the expressway is scheduled to go into service in August 2025. By October 2025, the entire project should be finished, enabling complete transport between the two cities.
The expressway is divided into four phases, with elevated stretches, tunnels, and bypasses designed to eliminate bottlenecks. Once fully functional, the expressway will cut down the average Delhi–Dehradun travel time from 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours.
A standout feature of the expressway is its wildlife corridor—the longest elevated corridor in Asia, spanning 12–14 km through the Rajaji National Park. This section allows for safe animal crossings and includes eco-bridges, underpasses, and sound barriers. Special lighting and noise control mechanisms have been installed to minimize disturbance to wildlife.
The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is more than just a road—it’s a high-speed, eco-conscious, and future-ready corridor that promises to redefine North India’s road travel. Whether you're planning a weekend escape to the hills or looking to ship goods faster, this expressway is set to deliver.
