Dehradun is taking a major step towards becoming a filmmaking destination with the launch of KEMSOR Studios, a new film production company founded by entrepreneur and actor Dev Raturi. The studio has announced that its first Hindi feature film will begin shooting in December 2026, with a nationwide theatrical release planned for May 2027.
Unlike projects that simply use Uttarakhand as a scenic backdrop, KEMSOR Studios says its debut film will place the state's culture, traditions, people, and landscapes at the heart of the story. The film will be made in Hindi to connect with audiences across India while showcasing Uttarakhand's unique identity on a larger platform.
The studio also plans to create opportunities for local actors, filmmakers, technicians, and creative professionals, helping strengthen the state's growing film ecosystem. Increased film production is expected to benefit tourism, hospitality, transport, and other local businesses linked to the entertainment industry.
Looking beyond its first project, KEMSOR Studios aims to explore international collaborations and co-productions, drawing on founder Dev Raturi's experience working in the Chinese film industry. The company plans to build a slate of story-driven films rooted in India with global appeal.
