In a significant move to strengthen rural governance and boost livelihoods, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone for the Gramya Vikas Bhawan, a state-of-the-art administrative hub for rural development initiatives.
The ceremony was held at Danda Nooriwala, Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun and was attended by senior government officials, panchayat representatives, and members of self-help groups.
The ₹58.32 crore Gramya Vikas Bhawan will bring together multiple rural development departments and flagship government schemes under one roof. The aim is to create an integrated command centre that improves efficiency, coordination, and delivery of services to villages across Uttarakhand.
CM Dhami emphasized that the Gramya Vikas Bhawan will not just be a government building but a symbol of Uttarakhand’s commitment to rural empowerment.
The government has set a target of ₹25 crore turnover by 2027 from rural products and tourism-related initiatives. To achieve this, it plans to link thousands of youth, women, and self-help groups to domestic and international markets. The CM also stressed that the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand will be expanded to give Uttarakhand’s traditional products — from woollens to organic produce — global recognition.
The Gramya Vikas Bhawan is thus seen as a cornerstone project in the vision of a ‘Developed Uttarakhand 2027’, where villages are not just surviving, but thriving.
