In a step to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, Uttarakhand has launched its first model vaccination centre at Gandhi Shatabdi Hospital extension in Dehradun. This facility is slated to provide vaccination services for children and mothers daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, an improvement from the previous bi-weekly schedule. A dedicated ASHA centre for frontline health workers was also introduced alongside this particular initiative.
“The health department is constantly working to improve facilities in the state. All ASHA posts in Dehradun have been filled, increasing institutional deliveries from 60% to 93%. This year, we aim to achieve 100%. We will also fill all ANM posts gradually," the state health minister stated, as quoted by Times of India.
Besides these developments, efforts are also underway to bridge workforce gaps, especially in nursing and medical staff.
“By 2027, the state will have 300 specialist doctors, and 100 additional ward-boy posts will be filled. We will also introduce 350 more ambulances with active GPS systems," he added.
Along with these, several health facilities across Dehradun are set for renovation and upgradation.
