Cricket fans in Dehradun have another reason to look forward to September. The inaugural Dehradun T20 League 2026 will begin on September 2 at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, with the tournament running until September 9.
Six franchises will compete for the first-ever Dehradun T20 League title, combining experienced domestic and IPL-linked players with emerging cricketing talent from Uttarakhand.
Who Are the Dehradun T20 League Captains?
The six teams have now announced their captains:
Doiwala Kings: TNR Mohit
Mussoorie Thunder: Akash Madhwal
Rishikesh Dragons: Yuvraj Chaudhary
Vikasnagar Dhamaka: Kunal Chandela
Herbertpur Knightriders: Jagadeesha Suchith
Selakui Strikers: Piyush Joshi
The presence of players such as Akash Madhwal and Jagadeesha Suchith adds valuable IPL and domestic cricket experience, while the other captains bring familiarity with Uttarakhand's local cricket scene.
The Dehradun T20 League 2026 will feature 18 matches. During the round-robin stage, each of the six teams will play five league matches.
The top teams will then move into the semi-finals on September 8, followed by the tournament's grand final on September 9, when the first Dehradun T20 League champion will be crowned.
Beyond the competition, the league is expected to provide a platform for young cricketers from Dehradun and across Uttarakhand to play alongside and learn from more experienced players.
