Dehradun is gearing up for an exciting addition to its cityscape, a sprawling public park inspired by London’s world-famous Hyde Park. The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has revealed plans to complete this landmark project by next year, bringing a slice of London’s charm to the foothills of Uttarakhand.

A brand-new, top-notch park at Rashtrapati Niketan, which is situated on Rajpur Road on the Dehradun-Mussoorie route, will be open to visitors starting next year. The park will be built on about 132 acres of land and is modelled after Hyde Park in London.

Designed to offer residents and tourists a refreshing recreational experience, the park will blend natural beauty with modern amenities. It will feature dedicated jogging and cycling tracks, children’s play areas, and a spacious food court serving local and international cuisines. Green lawns and landscaped gardens will make it a perfect escape for morning walks, picnics, or quiet reading sessions under the shade of trees.

MDDA officials have stated that the park’s design philosophy draws inspiration from Hyde Park’s openness, accessibility, and focus on community wellness. The aim is to create a multi-use green zone where fitness enthusiasts, families, and travelers can all find something to enjoy.

Beyond recreation, the project is expected to boost local tourism and support nearby businesses, from cafés and food stalls to cycling rental hubs and souvenir shops. For Dehradun, a city already celebrated for its natural beauty and educational institutions, this development represents a new chapter in its evolution as a vibrant, sustainable urban destination.

Once completed, Dehradun’s very own Hyde Park-style retreat will not just be a park — it will be an experience, merging global inspiration with the serene essence of Doon Valley.
