The Malsi Deer Park or Dehradun Zoo was established in 1976 and is spread over 25 hectares. It is a part of the Dehradun Forest Division and one of the major attractions for tourists in the city. The park is home to magnificent wildlife including birds and deer. Some popular species of deer that you can spot here are Sambar deer, Nilgai deer, two-horned deer, exotic animals and birds.
Apart from these, you can also see peacocks, rabbits, crocodiles, tigers, lions, snakes, owls and dozens of birds here.
The park is also very well decorated and peaks interest of children. The tiled pathway has statues of popular cartoon figures like Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Sher Khan, Raju, Chutki and Chota Bheem. A refreshment area is also built in the park where you can grab a bite and quench your thirst. Kids can also play on the slides and swings.
Although Malsi Deer Park is open for tourists all around the year, the best time to visit here is from March to June when the weather is pleasant and animals can easily be spotted talking a stroll around.
