In a bid to rejuvenate streams, springs and villages through active community participation, a statewide water conservation initiative has been rolled out in Dehradun. The Water Conservation Campaign 2025, organised by the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA), was recently inaugurated by the chief minister at Dehradun's Mukhya Sevak Sadan.

The campaign aims at encouraging residents to identify and report critical or drying water sources in their areas for timely treatment and restoration.

"The main goal is to connect all citizens with the campaign. At the district, block, and village levels, critical and drying water sources will be identified and treated."
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

As part of the initiative, a new mobile app, named 'Bhagirath', has been introduced to aid with the real-time reporting of critical water source conditions. Various village-level committees are also expected to be involved in the efforts of managing and restoring the identified sources.
