Dehradun could soon be home to one of Uttarakhand's most significant public spaces. The ambitious Rashtrapati Tapovan project, being developed on the former President's Estate near Rajpur Road, is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by November 2026.

Spread across nearly 132 acres, the project forms part of the larger redevelopment of the President's Estate into Rashtrapati Niketan, Rashtrapati Udyan and Rashtrapati Tapovan. Designed as a blend of nature, wellness, recreation and cultural spaces, the upcoming attraction is expected to become a major draw for both residents and tourists.

The project gained attention last week when President Droupadi Murmu reviewed the ongoing work during her Dehradun visit. Officials say the development is being executed in phases by the Central Public Works Department and aims to create a world-class green destination for the city.

Once opened, Rashtrapati Tapovan could give Dehradun a new tourism landmark while boosting local employment, cultural activities and the visitor economy. For a city known for its scenic landscapes and institutions, the project may emerge as one of its most talked-about public spaces in the coming years.
