In a major boost for air connectivity, Uttarakhand has now received four new helicopter services, thereby linking Dehradun with Nainital, Bageshwar and Mussoorie. This development, by heli company Heritage Aviation, has also enabled and established a direct route between Haldwani and Bageshwar.
Introduced under the Centre’s Udan scheme, this change will convert the exhausting 8-10 hour road trips to a smooth one-hour flight, making these picturesque destinations more accessible than ever.
The newly launched helicopter services will run twice a day and for seven days a week. However, the Dehradun-Mussoorie route will start with just one daily flight for the first month before expanding. Moreover, the 7-seater helicopters will operate key routes, including Dehradun to Nainital, Dehradun to Bageshwar, Jolly Grant to Mussoorie, and Haldwani to Bageshwar.
The ticket prices are expected to be affordable, starting at ₹3,500 for Dehradun-Mussoorie, going up to ₹4,500 for Dehradun-Nainital. Facilitating tourism as well as catering to emergency services, faster access to remote areas and nearby spots, and cutting down time
Uttarakhand is on its way to strengthening its aerial network further. The state currently operates helicopter services from 18 heliports, with 12 locations, namely Gauchar, Srinagar, Haldwani, Munsiyari and Almora, witnessing daily successful operations.
