Attention, devotees! April 30, 2025 has been declared as the official beginning of the sacred Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand. The Hindu pilgrimage, which takes travellers through the scenic sites of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, sees a myriad of tourists and an influx of devotees each year.
This year, the journey of the four religious dhams is being guarded better by the Uttarakhand government, with stricter security measures. Along with this, several enhanced facilities and conveniences have been introduced to ensure a seamless experience for pilgrims.
The holy journey will commence with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines on April 30, while the Badrinath shrine is all set to open its gates on May 4. Meanwhile, the opening date for Kedarnath shrine will be disclosed on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
This is also the first time that the Chardham Yatra registrations will be flowing in via both online and offline means. As per news, around 60% of registrations will take place online, while the remaining 40% will be handled offline to accommodate those who prefer traditional methods.
P.S. Online registrations will kick off on March 1, 2025, via the official government portal: registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in.
With Cheetah Police patrols every 10 kms, additional security forces, and helicopter airlifting for emergencies, this year's Yatra promises enhanced safety. Additional police forces will be deployed along the route to manage crowd control and emergency situations better.
Pilgrims are also slated to benefit from improved mobile networks and free food and accommodation for those in need.
Additionally, to ensure fairness, VIP darshan will not be permitted in the first month. During this time, every devotee, irrespective of status, will follow the standard procedure for worship.
