The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is conducting the ISRO START Capacity Building Workshop 2026 at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun, from July 27 to July 31. The programme brings together 50 students, including 12 IIRS research fellows and 38 undergraduate and postgraduate toppers selected through the ISRO START 2026 online examination from across India.
Inaugurated by A.S. Kiran Kumar, Member of the Space Commission and former ISRO Chairman, the workshop features advanced lectures on space science, interactions with senior ISRO scientists, demonstrations of remote sensing and Raman spectroscopy, satellite data analysis, and collaborative project work.
Launched in 2023, the ISRO START programme has become one of India's leading space science outreach initiatives, benefiting nearly 1.6 lakh students, faculty members, and space enthusiasts. By hosting the workshop, IIRS Dehradun continues to strengthen the city's reputation as a key centre for space research, remote sensing, and scientific education in India.
