The iconic Mussoorie Express, which runs daily between Dehradun and Old Delhi Junction, is all set to become safer, smoother, and more comfortable. Indian Railways has announced a major upgrade: the train will now run with 16 modern German-origin Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches, replacing its older ICF rake.

This marks one of the most significant enhancements for the busy Delhi–Dehradun corridor — a lifeline for tourists, students, office commuters, and locals traveling between the national capital and Uttarakhand.

What Makes These “German-Style” Coaches Special?

LHB coaches were originally developed by the German company Linke-Hofmann-Busch and are now manufactured in India with the same advanced technology.

Here’s what’s new for passengers:

- Stainless-Steel Body

- Anti-Climbing Safety Technology

- Better Stability & Smoother Ride

- Higher Speed Potential

- Improved Comfort Features

The upgraded rake will be introduced starting 29 January 2026. Once rolled out, every Mussoorie Express journey will take place using the new LHB coach set.

For years, the Mussoorie Express has been a trusted link for travelers heading to the hills. With the arrival of German-style LHB coaches, the train steps into a new era of comfort, safety, and modernity.
