A statewide government campaign, Pulse Anemia Maha Abhiyan, has been launched in Dehradun to combat anemia among pregnant women. Running till February 10, the initiative follows a T-4 strategy—test, talk, treat, and track and includes screening, nutrition counselling, treatment and follow-ups. As per reports, screenings are slated to take place at 1,874 centres, while 165 treatment centres will provide medical support, including iron therapy and blood transfusions.
The Uttarakhand health minister inaugurated the initiative in Dehradun's Raipur, where nutrition kits were distributed. "This campaign is crucial for reducing maternal mortality and raising awareness about nutrition among pregnant women," he said at the event.
