Jubin Nautiyal, the voice credited for some of modern Bollywood’s most soulful melodies, has once again made Uttarakhand proud and how!
Recently, the Raatan Lambiyan hitmaker clinched the 'Best Playback Singer (Male)' award at the 2025 IIFA Awards in Jaipur, for his song Dua from the film Article 370. However, beyond the trophy and praises, this win proved to be deeply personal for Nautiyal and his hometown.
The singer, who was born and brought up in Dehradun, dedicated the award to his home state Uttarakhand and his supporters, as he gracefully accepted the award on the IIFA stage.
"This is dedicated to my fans, my family, and the divine land of Uttarakhand... This award is not just for my sons, it is a pride for all of Uttarakhand,”
standing on that grand stage, Jubin Nautiyal shared in a heartfelt manner.
As he returned to his city, Dehradun gave him nothing short of a hero’s welcome. The airport, flooded with fans, saw people cheering for the Tum Hi Aana star, creating a concert of their own.
Nautiyal was greeted with dhol, garlands and posters, as his supporters celebrated his musical journey with him.
Born in 1989, the famed singer grew up surrounded by Uttarakhand's natural beauty. His father, Ram Sharan Nautiyal, was a businessman and politician, while his mother, Neena Nautiyal, was a businesswoman too. Both his parents recognised his musical inclination early on and supported it.
An alumnus of St Joseph’s Academy and Welham Boys’ School, he received formal training in classical music and learned to play various instruments, including the guitar, piano, harmonium and drums. For Nautiyal, music was always a calling. He also has received training at legendary music director and singer AR Rahman’s school, where the singer refined his craft further.
Proud of his Uttarakhandi identity, folk music remains to shed a positive influence on his music and Jubin Nautiyal has often publicly reiterated his love for his hometown.
