
The 38th National Games in Uttarakhand is continuing to awe spectators, showcasing incredible athletic performances and setting new records with champions emerging across various disciplines.
Here’s a breakdown of the latest winners and record-setters across multiple events:
Hammer Throw (Women): Anushka Yadav of Uttar Pradesh set a new National Games record with a throw of 62.89m, in turn, bagging gold. Her state-mates Tanya Choudhry and Nandani Yadav claimed silver and bronze, respectively, making it a clean sweep for Uttar Pradesh.
In the 110m hurdles, Maharashrta's Tejas Ashok Shirse set a new National Games record with a blistering 13.65 seconds, securing gold. In the women's event, Jyothi Yarraji from Andhra Pradesh won gold, clocking 13.10s as she shattered her own 2023 National Games record of 13.22s.
Aishwarya Mishra, also from Maharashtra, dominated the women’s 400m event, clocking an incredible 51.12 seconds to set another National Games record.
The women's triple jump event saw Punjab’s Niharika Vashisht clinch gold, while Kerala’s Sheena N V and Sandra Babu bagged silver and bronze respectively.
In the women’s 4x400m relay, Punjab’s team comprising Ramndeep Kaur, Twinkle Chaudhary, Kiranpal Kaur and Rashdeep Kaur secured gold, while Karnataka and Haryana finished second and third, respectively.
In distance running, Ankita Dhyani triumphed in the 3,000m race, securing another gold for her state. Meanwhile, Sumit Kumar of SSCB dominated the men’s 3000m steeplechase, followed by Rohit Kumar and Shankar Lal Swami.
Madhya Pradesh’s Dev Meena set a new National Games record in the pole vault event with an impressive 5.32m jump, in turn, securing gold.
Fencing: In the men’s foil event, Tamil Nadu’s K Bibish emerged victorious, with Bihar’s Akash Kumar taking silver and SSCB’s Thokchom Bicky and Hemash Singh San sharing the bronze. Olympian C A Bhavani Devi claimed gold in the women’s sabre event for Tamil Nadu. In the same, Haryana’s Aakhri Aakhri secured silver, while Kerala’s V Alka and Maharashtra’s Shruti Joshi took home bronze.
In the women’s trap shooting event, Madhya Pradesh’s Neeru Dhanda secured gold, followed by Delhi’s Kirti Gupta with silver.
Judo: Uttarakhand's Sidharth Rawat dominated in the men's 60kg judo category, clinching the gold medal in a dominant display.
In the men’s shot put event, Punjab’s Tajinderpal Singh Toor claimed the gold, with Madhya Pradesh’s Samardeep Singh Gill taking silver and Punjab’s Prabhkirpal securing bronze.
In other news, West Bengal clinched gold in the women’s artistic gymnastics team event, while Maharashtra and Odisha took silver and bronze, respectively.
Emerging as a winner, Khushiman Gharti of SSCB fascinated audiences in the men’s mountain biking event, followed by Khariksing Adonis Tangpu of Manipur and Kamlesh Rana of SSCB, who took silver and bronze, respectively.
Haryana’s dominance in modern pentathlon continued, with their team clinching gold in the women’s triathle team event. Chhattisgarh and Bihar secured silver and bronze, respectively. Haryana’s Mahi also contributed to the state’s gold tally with a strong performance in netball.
In the triathle men’s individual event, Uttarakhand’s Aditya Negi secured gold, followed by Haryana’s Basant Tomar and Maharashtra’s Mayank Vaibhav Chaphekar. Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s Shrawani Jaydeep Nilwarna emerged victorious in the women’s individual event, with Haryana’s Anshika and Heena Phogat securing silver and bronze.
The mixed relay event saw Maharashtra’s Shrawani Jaydeep Nilwarna and Mayank Vaibhav Chaphekar clinch gold, while Haryana’s Anshika and Basant Tomar secured silver. Goa’s Pratiksha Shambhu Velip and Suraj Datta Velip took the bronze medal.
